Big boost for v-ball at St Paul’s
A FIVB Level One Coaching Course organised jointly by the Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation (TTVF) and the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) starts today at the St Paul’s Street Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, Port-of-Spain at 9 am.
Top international volleyball instructors Dr Paul Brasson (Canada) and John Kessell (USA) will conduct the programme which is geared to uplift the standard and methodology of all local coaches and players. Both instructors have gained a wealth of experience playing for their senior national teams at the Olympics and other leading world and regional volleyball tournaments. They have also been actively involved in coaching programmes throughout the world. Mushtaque Mohammed, president of the TTVF, are requesting all interested coaches, teachers, players and others who are interested in participation should report for registration before the programme starts.
During the course there will also be a seminar dealing with the advanced methods of blocking, defense and spike serve for national players, Level I and Level II coaches as well as other participants.
This course comes after the just concluded Beach Volleyball Course which was successfully conducted by Italian Maurizio Pimponi in which 17 participants received certificates. According to Mohammed, the Beach Volleyball and this Level I course are all geared towards improving the national Federation Coaching capability, which is the current priority for the TTVF. The Federation is planning to host and participate in more international and regional tournaments during 2004 and 2005.
