$22,000 diamond ring stolen

A DIAMOND wedding ring, set with 21 diamond stones and worth over $22,000, was one of several items stolen by bandits during a crime spree in Penal, robbing four persons in separate incidents between Monday night and yesterday morning.

Rachael Davis, 24, a baker from Morne Diablo, told police that when she arrived home on Monday evening, she placed her three-piece interlocking gold ring, on which 21 diamonds were set, on a space-saver at her home and retired to bed. When she awoke yesterday morning, Davis said, she discovered the piece of jewelry missing. Another woman, Veronica Barban, 52, of Penal Rock Road, told police she secured her home on Monday night and went to bed. Around 8 am yesterday, she discovered her television set valued $2,500, a CD player valued $400, a $350 Oster blender and a $500 microwave missing.

Businessman Carlan Duncan, 32, proprietor of Bay Watch Restaurant and Bar, at Quinam Junction, told police when he opened his businessplace around 7 am yesterday, he discovered $535 worth in alcohol beverages, a $1,500 car radio and other electronic equipment valued $1,000, missing. PCS Douglas and Thomas of the Penal Police Station are investigating.
