PH driver shot in Laventille

A 38-year-old “PH” driver was shot once in the chest while plying his car for hire along lower Laventille Road, Laventille.

Reports revealed that around 7 pm on Sunday, Dexter Alexis was plying his car when a man called out to him. When Alexis stopped to allow the man to board the car, the man pulled out a gun and fired two shots at Alexis. He was struck once and the gunman fled the scene. Alexis was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is now warded in critical condition. Officers of the Besson Street CID are investigating.
