Security guard relieved of firearm

A female security officer attached to Amalgamated Security Limited providing security service at Coca-Cola Trinidad Caribbean Bottlers Limited, Tunapuna, was relieved of her firearm and six round of ammunition Monday by men pretending to be looking for work.

At around 12.58 pm two men of African decent walked up to the guard booth where EC Elizabeth Atwell and another officer were at work and asked for employment. While she was telling them there were no vacancies, the two men whipped out guns (a .38 revolver and 9mm pistol) and ordered the officer to hand over her .38 Smith and Wesson revolver with six rounds of ammunition before making good their escape through the north gate. Police were contacted and a futile search of the area was conducted. Constable Marlon Roberts of the Tunapuna police is spearheading inquiries.
