Mucurapo U-13s win 3rd double crown

MUCURAPO Junior Secondary Under-13 footballers have blazed a trail on their way to the 2003 Secondary School’s North Zone League and knockout titles with a string of records and a season-long unbeaten run.

Mucurapo’s 3-1 knockout final win over Belmont Secondary at the Queen’s Park Savannah signalled the end of a dream season for coach Frederick Brewster and his charges, who racked up 89 goals, a school record for any one season. Kevin Mollineau who scored twice  in the final was the leading scorer with a bag of 29 goals, while team captain Ross Russell Jr netted 24 including the other final goal.  Jovin Jones had 19 and Gerado Felix scored 11.

Mucurapo advanced to their third league and knockout double, playing  unbeaten in their four games, also beating Belmont Secondary by a 3-1 margin on the way. The Mucurapo youngsters also posted another record, smashing their own 16-0 margin of victory which stood for three years, when they won 17-0 this time. In his five-year tenure as coach,  Brewster praised his players who all came to him with natural skills. “All that was left to do was mould them into an organised team,” he said.
