No trial cricket until tomorrow

THERE will be no cricket in the first trial match to select the national senior team for next year’s Carib Beer series until tomorrow.

The first day of the game at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) yesterday was completely washed out and the heavy drenching from the downpour will also prevent play on the scheduled second day today. National selector Roland Sampath who is in charge of the team until coach Anthony Gray assumes his role, took the players indoors for training at the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Academy.  “We are very unhappy with the fact that we have not been able to start the game but we can do nothing about the elements. “We are however fortunate that we have the indoor facilities so that we can still keep the players active while play in the middle is not possible.” The national team is preparing for next year’s Carib Cup and will be aiming to capture the regional first class title for the first time since 1985.
