2 charged with stealing mail

Two employees of Service Air Ltd appeared before Magistrate Melville Daniel charged in connection with a postal racket.

Devan George, 24, of Upper Bush Street, Maitagual, Petit Bourg and Badie Jagessar, of LP 86, Cumoto Road, Cumoto, were charged with the offence and placed on $40,000 bail each with surety. They were charged by PC Douglas of St Joseph Police Station. According to reports, on November 29, 2003, at Calvary Hill, Lovers Lane, San Juan, the suspects willfully removed  and kept four postal packets containing a cheque in the course of transmission by post which ought to have been delivered to Sheila Cato, Sister Jean Farrel, Wilma Henry, and the Ebenezer Baptist Mission. Attorney Larry Lalla appeared for George and Peter Howell appeared for Jagessar. The accused are to reappear before the magistrate on December 15.
