Wanted man promises to give himself up
A 22-year-old murder suspect in the Akil Leslie Smith murder is seeking the assistance of an attorney to give himself up.
According to police sources, the family of the Phase Seven, La Horquetta man has contacted the police and assured them the suspect would be turning himself in as soon as he speaks to his lawyer and certain arrangements were made. Smith, 21, was shot while sitting in the porch of his La Horquetta, Arima home on the evening of December 1, over a long standing feud related to an $800 debt for marijuana. He died shortly afterwards on the operating table, but not before divulging his killer’s name to police. While an investigation is continuing, police have issued a warrant for the suspect. Cpl Phillip is investigating.
