Cunupia body still unidentified

The decomposed body found by police officers in the Cunupia area on Tuesday evening remains unidentified.

Investigating officers informed Newsday that traces have been conducted and so far there are no reports of missing persons. Investigating officers revealed more information about the body and said it seemed to be the body of a brown skinned man with a thick moustache. It also appeared that the throat of the person was slit. A post-mortem has not yet been conducted as the body remains unidentified.

The decomposed body was found on Tuesday after officers responded to a tip by an anonymous caller to the Crime Stoppers Hotline. Information received from the caller was that there was a body in a grave about three feet deep inside a canefield at Ramsaran Trace, Jerningham Junction Road, Cunupia. The body was covered with a black piece of cloth and had an electrical cord tied around the neck, abdomen and feet. A party of officers lead by ASP Millette, Inspector Raphael, Acting Sgt Persad and PC Harvey visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
