Mohammed honoured by SSCL

SECONDARY Schools Cricket League North-East Zone held their Presentation of Awards Ceremony at North Eastern College, Sangre Grande, where the achievements of the zone’s cricketers during the 2003 season were celebrated.

Prudencio Cedeno of Valencia High School was adjudged “Cricketer of the Year” while Matura High School’s Anisa Mohammed, received a special award for her performances on both the Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies Senior Women’s teams at Wednesday’s ceremony. Cedeno, who played on Valencia High’s Under-16 and 19 teams, had 26.5 run average and the highest individual score — 82 — in the Under-16 division, his exploits in the under-19 division saw him rack up 298 runs, an average of 59.60 per game. Mohammed’s 14 wickets in the girls’ division earned her the “Most Wickets” prize while in the same division Scarlet Lopez of Valencia High stroked 213 runs, an average of 52.6 per game, to take the “Most Runs” award.

A score of 76 runs in one game made sure that Lopez also took home the “Highest Individual Score” prize. North-Eastern College twice beat Coryal High in their drive to capture the Under-16 and under-19 Boys Titles, SWAHA was beaten into second by Sangre Grande in the Under-14 division and Valencia High went ahead of Matura High as they claimed the Girls’ title.

Under-16:
Most Runs: Prudencio Cedeno, Valencia High, 212, average 26.5 runs.        
Higest Individual Score: Prudencio Cedeno, Valencia High, 82 runs.
Most Wickets: Antonio D’Andrade, Northeastern College, 13 wickets.
Best Bowling Average: Akeel Charles, Matura High.
Under-19:
Most Runs: Prudencio Cedeno, Valencia High, 298, average 59.60 runs.
Higest Individual Score: Cleveland Vialva, Matura High, 98 runs.
Most Wickets: Ricardo Sam, Northeastern College, 13 wickets.
Best Bowling Average: Ricardo Sam, Northeastern College.
Girls:
Most Runs: Scarlet Lopez, Valencia High, 213, average 52.6 runs.
Higest Individual Score: Scarlet Lopez, Valencia High, 98 runs.
Most Wickets: Anisa Mohammed, Matura High 14 wickets.
Best Bowling Average: Elizabeth Martin, Valencia High.
