Under-13 cricketers face whitewash

BRIDGETOWN: Barbados, already assured of a series win, tackle visiting Trinidad and Tobago in the last match of their three-match Under-13 cricket series at Queen’s Park eyeing a clean sweep. The home side logged wins on Saturday and Sunday over Trinidad and Tobago to claim the Malcolm Marshall Trophy with a winning 2-0 series lead. On Saturday, Jamal Jordan (59) led the Barbadians to a three-wicket win in the opening match, and they triumphed by a more emphatic eight wickets in the second match on Sunday. Batting first, Trinidad and Tobago posted 139 for eight off 40 overs, with Nicholas Alexis lifting his team’s innings with an unbeaten 64, the only double-figure score for the visitors. Man of the match Roston Chase (2-12) and Jason Holder (2-27), were the most successful bowlers for Barbados, who replied with 140 for two off 37.2 overs. Chase top-scored with 67, while Kraig Brathwaite (34) and Anthony Alleyne (25) made useful contributions in the easy Barbados win.
