Sickening sight of vagrants

THE EDITOR: Quite recently I was walking along one of the streets of our capital city Port-of-Spain, accompanied by a friend from one of our neighbouring Caribbean islands. It was very distasteful and sickening to see the number of vagrants and destitutes on our nation’s streets. The odour coming from some of these less fortunate human beings is very offensive. It’s very painful to inhale. It’s visual pollution. The sight of these unfortunate human beings eating and sleeping in grime and filth is a mark against our social services. Hopefully the authorities can find a way to control, if not eliminate the problem. After all, every creed and race must find an equal place and God will surely bless our nation.
