Trainers keep horses on ‘easy street’

PACE work was the order of the morning at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, as trainers took things very easy with their charges yesterday, with the big Guardian Holdings Limited-sponsored Boxing Day programme just one week off. My Aphrodite took the morning’s honours with a 400 metres spin in 27.6 seconds, just marginally better than Saratone who completed the same trip in 27.7 seconds. Two-year-old Music Man produced the best time for 600 metres, returning in 38.5, while Tea Time Doc clocked 39.5 for the same distance.

The best run over 800 metres came from the Maniram “Boboy” Maharaj owned and trained two-year-old colt Salsa Moves who showed off a few moves in clocking 53.2 seconds. Stablemate Mandela was the best on time for 1000 metres, stopping the clock at 1:06.2 seconds.
Trainers are expected to get in some fast work with their charges and the track should be humming with activity this morning.
