Sherwin Ganga hits 64 in rain-hit trial

A SOGGY outfield at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva yesterday  restricted the final day of the third trial to a late start.

But when play resumed, Sherwin Ganga, brother of West Indies Test batsman Daren, batted brilliantly to score 64, as Shazam Babwah’s XI were bowled out for 207 replying to Imran Jan’s XI 521. Ganga resumed his innings on 37, but apart from him, only Gibran Mohammed flourished yesterday.  He scored 29. Amit Jaggernauth was the pick of the bowlers taking three for 26, while Aneil Kanhai grabbed two for three runs. Jan’s XI reached seven runs for no wicket at the close in their second knock. The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board have planned a fourth trial for the cricketers, but this time it will be a three-day match starting on December 27 at the same venue.
