Local tour operators pledge support for tourism plant
The Trinidad and Tobago Incoming Tour Operators Association (TTITOA) recently held its 13th annual general meeting to elect its new executive team. President Lorraine Pouchet of In Joy Tours, who continues to lobby for more cohesion and tangible recognition of the tourism product in Trinidad and Tobago was returned as the association’s head. Lorraine is now serving her fourth term as President. Vice President is Andy Whitwell of Wild Ways, an eco-tour specialist. Public Relations Officer Stephen Broadbridge of Caribbean Discovery Tours, a well-known champion of the natural environment and acclaimed photographer, is now serving his second term as PRO of the Association.
Also re-elected for a second term is Agna Da Costa-Vieira of Hummingbird Helicopter Services Limited. She will continue serving as secretary. Treasurer Winston Nanan of Nanan Tours. He is now serving his fourth term in that position. Winston is synonymous with the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. The new executive has pledged to continue its work with all relevant culture and tourism bodies and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago in its quest to develop all facets of the tourism product, and to strive to position the industry as a credible alternative income earner to oil and gas. Despite the many hurdles to be scaled along the development path, the association remains convinced that there are significant opportunities to be derived from our unique blend of culture, festivals, flora, fauna and historical sites in our twin island state.
