Bowlers hold sway at 3rd trial

BOWLERS had the upper hand on the third day of the third trial match in preparation for next year’s Carib Beer Series at National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva, yesterday. A total of 15 wickets fell for 188 runs yesterday, with Davindra Krishna taking four Imran Jan XI wickets for 27 runs when they resumed on 20 for four. The Jan XI were bowled out for 83 with Gibran Mohammed topscoring with 23 and Kenton Thompson getting 22. Hat-trick Ryad Emrit failed to add to his three-wicket haul to finish with three for 13.

Batting a second time, Shazam Babwah hit a typical stroke-filled 44 and Aneil Kanhai continued his good form with 46, as the Babwah XI reached 125 for nine wickets before declaring. Ricardo Patty was best bowler for Jan XI taking five wickets for 36 runs.  Ricardo Powell got two for 24.
Facing a deficit of 152, the Jan XI closed on 41 for two wickets.
