Bailey wants to blow Trumpet

“FLOYD TRUMPET is a baby.  He’s a chicken.” These were the fighting words Percy Bailey chose to describe the Trinidad and Tobago welterweight boxing champion, who he accuses of fearing him. The 36-year-old Bailey, popularly called “Ochro,” because of his very slippery movements, said he had challenged Trumpet to a title-fight which was arranged for Boxing Day. But, according to Bailey, Trumpet ducked out of the bout saying he was unfit.

“Ochro” said only two weeks before their proposed bout, Trumpet fought and stopped Learie Bruce in five rounds. A fighting mad Bailey said: “It is I to claim I am unfit since my last fight was in Buffalo, New York, two years ago. “All I do is some aerobics, Tae-bo and punch a bag now and again.” He said he is again challenging Trumpet to put his title on the line against him on the proposed January card, which features Giselle Salandy. Bailey questioned: “How come he is unfit if he fought just in November. He is running scared. “I will fight him anywhere.  I will fight him in the road. I want that title, I know I can beat Trumpet.  He is a fake champion,” Bailey said.
