Austrian for six-round Swiss tournament

AUSTRIAN International Chess Master Martin Neubauer, in Trinidad and Tobago on a short coaching visit, will test top local chessists at a six-round Swiss semi-international tournament. It will be sponsored by ENSCO and organised by the Trinidad and Tobago Chess Association. The first move is timed for 9.30 am on January 4 at the Rhand Credit Union, Abercromby Street, Port-of-Spain.

According to TTCA  president Bisham Soondarsingh, the Austrian will tangle with 12-time national champ Christo Cave, national master Yogendranath Ramsingh, FIDE Master Frank Yee and Chess Olympiad silver medallist Ravishen Singh among others. Neubauer, who played on Board 2 for Austria at last year’s Chess Olympiad in Bled, Slovenia, has an international rating of over 2400. Cesar Ramos, a Venezuelan well-known to local chessists and Adeniji Bayo of Nigeria will also be among the competition.
