Phoenix athletes get new executive
A NEW executive, dedicated to carrying on the legacy of late founder Nestor “Tom” Brown, has been voted in at Phoenix Athletics Associates. Heading the executive is president Carlene Haynes, with her deputy David Rocke. Natasha Hamlet is the secretary with Lystra Dottin-Bernard assistant-secretary. Larry Hunte is the Public Relations Officer and Michael Bronte the treasurer.
Trustees are Carol James and Charles Harris, while ordinary members are Roland Bynoe, Vernon de Leon and Marina White. Athletes representatives are Wendy Redman and Jamal James, while ex-Olympian Ali St Louis and Trevor Hackshaw are the club’s coaches. Brown who founded Arima-based Phoenix, died suddenly on December 3. Among the top athletes who are members of Phoenix are Olympian Julieon Raeburn and Ayanna Hutchinson. Others are Kherry Noray, Kellon Francis, Nikeisha Charles, Melissa de Leon, Jamal James, Nichelle de Landro, Lester Herbert and Denille de Verteuil. Athletes will continue their training programme on Mondays and Thursdays at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, Arima, from 4.30 pm.
