Republic Bank strive for golf excellence
THE REPUBLIC Bank “Strive For Excellence” Royal Canadian/Trinidad and Tobago Junior Golf Camp is seeking to develop “outstanding golfers and outstanding people, young people who are champions both on and off the course.” Making this pronouncement was Henry Brunton, Royal Canadian Golf Coach, at the recent launch of the week-long programme at the Republic Bank’s Head Office, Port of Spain.
Brunton is making his first visit to these shores, and is accompanied by assistants Rhonda Fleury and Liz Hoffman, as well as eight golfers, who will be participating in both classroom and on-course exercises. The camp got underway on Sunday with a motivational clinic conducted by Brunton, followed by a Texas Scramble featuring teams of four (one Canadian and three Trinidadians), with the match ending on a tie (all teams shooting 11-under-par). The team also indicated their desire to host young TT golfers in Canada in mid-2004, as part of the group’s annual nine-month programme.
