Lambert hit 119 in Jamaica trial

KINGSTON: Tamar Lambert pressed his claims for selection to the Jamaica team for their opening match in the Carib Beer 2004 Cricket Series when he completed a stroke-filled century for Gareth Breese XI against Dave Bernard, Jr’s XI in a final practice match. Lambert pummelled 12 fours and two sixes in an undefeated 119 that anchored Breese’s XI to 282 for four when stumps were drawn on the opening day at Sabina Park. Bernard, Jr. led his side’s bowling with two wickets for 57 runs.

Lambert batted for close to six hours and faced 194 balls to add meat to the innings of Breese’s side after some early jitters. Xavier Marshall supported with 55 and opening batsman Brenton Parchment scored 49. Jamaica tackle Windward Islands in their opening match of the Carib Beer 2004 Series, the West Indies First-Class championship, at St Lucia’s Beausejour Stadium from January 9.
