Bible Review
THE EDITOR: As a parent you should want as many copies of this book lying around as possible. Much of the material is exactly what the youths need in order to build spiritual and moral values (Psalm 119:9) These things are written for us as an example so that we will be able to make informed choices in our life this day. It is because God did not make us as puppets on a string and to show our great need for him. He wanted us to serve him and live for him out of love for him. In his great wisdom he formulated a plan whereby he would win back men’s heart from the fall he took when he disobeyed in the garden of Eden. In the Bible days, children’s names had prophetic significance and history behind it, but nowadays we gave them any old name like Damian, which interpreted means Devil.
This first clears any doubt about this great book because every prophet, priest or king fulfilled his destiny pertaining to his name, especially Jesus whose name interpreted means Saviour. The name of the books author is clearly The Holy ghost (2 Peter 1: 20-21). I found out what is behind all the name changes — when God wanted a man to see the way he saw to operate in a new level of faith and to fulfill a certain destiny, God gave him a name conducive to his call and purpose. I do not expect an unregenerated person to understand this highly spiritual book because it requires that the Holy Ghost who is the author to take up his abode in your heart first (1 Cor 26:14). One of the most infallible proofs of the Bible’s authenticity is the accurate fulfillment of prophecy. It always turn out just the way the Bible said it would, eg such as when earthquakes in the last days continued to increase in intensity and frequency. So, let God’s Word be true. The fact that the first Pope St Peter denied the Lord in the time of persecution proves that God did not make them infallible, they were men with limitations. God’s word is the most accurate history you could come across for it tells you why you are here, what is your purpose and what is your destiny, where you came from.
God did not lie to Adam about dying when he ate of the forbidden fruit for truly there is instantly a broken fellowship. His spiritual life died because sin causes separation between God and man (1 Sam 15:29). It would seem as though God promoted genocide in certain situations, but he is simply preserving a righteous seed, instead of letting one bad apple destroy the whole bunch. His ultimate plan was to bring the Saviour to the world so he had to preserve a pure lineage from which Jesus would emerge. Jesus could have just dropped from the sky but God had to do things decently and in order so in his wisdom he did it legally and uprightly. In the Old Testament God did not condone sin — it was judged and condemned. The wages for sin was death up until Jesus died to make grace available to the human race. God gave Israel certain laws, decrees and ordinances so he could preserve them as a Holy nation, royal priesthood that they would show forth the praises of Him. It is because God has our best interest at heart that he lay down certain law, rules. There is divine purpose in everything he does. “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every thing that proceeded out of his mouth.” Deut 8:3.
