TT drawn in Pool A

REGIONAL Rugby Sevens and 15 champs Trinidad and Tobago will join England, Samoa and hosts United States in Pool A at the inaugural Los Angeles Sevens competition, scheduled for February 14 and 15.

The contest will be staged at the Home Depot Centre Stadium in Carson City, and will be the first International Rugby Board (IRB) sevens event staged at LA. And the TT ruggermen are leaving no stone unturned as they get themselves in fine shape for the event, with training sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays at President’s Grounds, St Ann’s, including running sessions over Mt Hololo Hill.

National coach Rhett Chee Ping will conduct a session from 9 am today at Chaguaramas, featuring a five-kilometre time trial at the Defence Force Grounds. The Caribbean rugby kings will also use the event as preparation for the Americas 2005 Rugby World Cup 7s qualifying tournament, which will take place in the Cayman Islands in June. And the team is expected to accept an invitation to play at the Cape Fear 7s in North Carolina, USA from July 3-7.
