Carl touched many lives

THE EDITOR: Rarely can someone identify that single turning point which changed the course of his or her life forever. I consider myself truly blessed to have known the man who was responsible for my transformation. He was like a second father to me, and he considered me no less than a son. His name was Carl Ashton Lennox Williams, and the world lost an irreplaceable hero of mankind when he left us. He is the man who taught me, pushed me and challenged me.

He is the man who sat with me patiently in his computer class back in 1996 and answered my infamous question, ‘Who is Mr Dos?’ And after eight years of constant presence in my life, I can honestly say that he is the man who, along with my parents, has made me into the man I am today. He has also touched the lives of countless people, in countless ways, with his eternal passion and integrity. I didn’t get a chance to bid you ‘Good-bye,’ my friend. But your memory will remain with me for the rest of my time in this place, and I’ll take my guidance from the footprints you’ve left in the sand. Perhaps a funeral among men really is a wedding feast among angels.
