Army netballers chew Holiday Snacks

DEFENCE FORCE powered past Holiday Snacks 35-28 in Alternative Division Y action in the All Sectors Netball League continued at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo.

The Holiday Snacks girls led 10-9 at the end the first quarter of Thursday’s match, and at the half-time interval still clung to a one-goal lead — 17-16. But the Army-Coast Guard women took charge in the third period, outscoring their opponents 11-6 for a 27-23 interval lead before going on to victory. Kerlene Sylvester the Defence Force goal-shoot scored 20 goals from her 32 attempts and Donna Chase had 15 of 19.  For the Holiday Snacks team, Helen Curden had 18 goals from 27 attempts and Marcia Danie, 10 of 14.

In the other match on Wednesday, Government Printery led all the way to beat TSTT 36-27. The Printery girls led 9-6, 20-13 and 28-17 at the quarter stages with Margaret Jack scoring 28 goals from 37 attempts, Candy Hazelwood five of 10 and Kathy Ann Cain three of four. For the “Hello Girls,” Junila Wilson had 15 goals from 25 attempts and Sarah Huctcherson, 12 of 25.
