TT U-23s play Cuba in Havana

TRINIDAD and Tobago under-23 footballers will play the first of two warm-up matches against Cuba in Havana today. And they will clash with the Cubans again on Wednesday before returning home.

The Trinidad and Tobago youngsters are preparing for the forthcoming CONCACAF Final qualifying round in Mexico starting on February 2.
Stuart Charles Fevrier who was relieved of the coaching job with the national seniors, are in charge of the squad. Ex- “Strike squad” defender Brian Williams is his assistant, Ross Russell goalkeeper coach, George Joseph manager, Wayne Lawson trainer and Ikin Williams equipment manager.

Fevrier remained optimistic, and said he  intends to get the Under 23s well prepared for a good showing in Cuba and Mexico. Trinidad and Tobago are  in Group B along with hosts Mexico, Costa Rica and Jamaica. The top two teams from the group will advance to the semi-finals against the  Group A leaders. In that group are Panama, United States, Honduras and Canada.  Winners of the finals will earn automatic qualification for the Athens, Greece, Olympics.
