Eastern Lions devour Army
DEFENCE FORCE ended their season on a disappointing note — in fifth position with 50 points — following a 3-1 beating by Joe Public at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, Tunapuna, yesterday as action in the T&T Pro League winds down.
Forward Balondemu Julius gave the Army-Coast Guard combination the lead after 10 minutes before midfielder Garvin McKenna equalised for the “Eastern Lions” in the 33rd. Joe Public went ahead when Seon Power converted a penalty in 66th and Jason Springer’s 87th minute strike sealed the issue for the hosts. The day’s other scheduled double-header between South Starworld Strikers and Caledonia AIA failed to come off as “The Stallions” defaulted both senior and Under-20 matches.
Under-20 results: JOE PUBLIC (5) Terrence McAllister 14th, Kern Gardiner 49th, 83rd, Dwight Scott 66th, 90th vs DEFENCE FORCE (1) Clevon George 78th; NORTH EAST STARS (5) Sean Reyes 10th, Semeon Augustus 50th, Colin Bain 65th, Owen Reyes 66th, 79th vs TOBAGO UNITED (2) Nyron Orr 45th, Dexter Yearwood 50th.
Saturday’s scores: W CONNECTION (4) Jason Marcano 1st, 2nd, Arnold Ferguson 19th, Kyle Cupid 21st vs SAN JUAN JABLOTEH (1) Andre Alexis 85th.
