Shine on Allyson Hennessy's favourites in concert
Featuring on the cast at the event that starts at 7 pm, are none other than David Michael Rudder, who revised the lyrics of the Mighty Sparrow’s “Memories” to “address” Hennessy at her funeral last month; her all-time favourite Stalin (Leroy Calliste); and an artiste she adored, the Mighty Shadow (Winston Bailey).
Hennessy also loved to have on her Dateline television programme, Denyse Plummer, the Roy Cape All Stars, 3-Canal, Orange Sky and Imij & Co, and they, too, will all be there to perform along with many more artistes.
The event was organised in an effort to offset some the medical expenses incurred by Hennessy’s month-long hospitalisation. In this light FAH are asking patrons for a contribution of $200, and although food and drinks will be on sale, coolers are allowed.
For those who cannot make the event contributions can be made by contacting Hennessy’s sister Rosemary at roses@trinidadtunes.com Those in the southland, can call 790-8688 for more information.
Hennessy fell ill in late April 2011, with an undisclosed illness, and was hospitalised in the intensive care unit at a the St Clair Medical Centre in Port-of-Spain.
She never recovered and died at the hospital on May 7, 2011, aged 63.
