Young golfers make their mark in Tatil Invitational

The 11th Annual Tatil Invitational Golf Tournament was recently hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association at St Andrews Golf Club at Moka, Maraval. The tournament is a top fixture on the golfing calendar and was the first major tournament for the year. Carlos “Sexy” Baynes outplayed a field of 130 of Trinidad and Tobago’s top golfers, scoring 152 in the process, to capture the overall prize in the Men Championship Flight. Organisers noted that many juniors distinguished themselves after the first day of play but Baynes’ class was undoubted.

Simon Merry and Ben Martin, two of the top juniors finished close behind Baynes on 153 each while the top woman golfer was junior Tracey Clarke who scored also totalled 153. This feat was further  testament to the ability of the juniors to surpass the seniors in local competition. Ian Abraham won the Senior Men Championship and Asraph Ali captured the top prize among the Super Seniors, many of Tatil’s top brass including, managing-director Paul Traboulay, deputy managing-director, James Camacho and numerous other agents and executives all attended the event.
