Connection go for Carapichaima treble
W CONNECTION will seek a three-peat in this year’s third edition of the Carapichaima Under-17 Football Supa League. The Savonetta-based youngsters will face stiff challenges for the TTFF Trophy from last year’s runners-up Superstar Rangers and newcomers Presto Presto Youth Camp.
Action in the new season will kick off on Saturday, with matches at two Carapichaima venues, St Mary’s Recreation Ground and Roopsingh Road Recreation Ground. Five teams from the North — Rangers, RSSR FA, St James Jets, Trendsetter Hawks (Fire Services) and Cruz International; Five from Centra — W Connection, St Mary’s FC, Phase IV Nationals, Fresto Presto and Cap Off Youths and three from South — Gasparillo Youths, La Romain Lions and Point Fortin Civic Centre have taken entry to the series. Apart from being runners-up in the league, Superstar Rangers walked away with the B&G General Contractors Trophy in the knockout series last season. According to league co-ordinator Stephen Bartholomew, action is timed to begin Saturday and culminate on April 21.
Saturday’s fixtures: Group A — ST MARY’S vs RSSR — 4.15 pm. Sunday — Phase IV vs Point Fortin Civic Centre, 2.15 pm; W Connection vs Superstar Rangers, 4.15 pm. All games at St Mary’s Recreation Ground.
Saturday Group B — Cap Off vs Cruz International, 4.15 pm. Sunday’s games — La Romain Lions vs Superstar Rangers, 2.15 pm; Gasparillo Yths. vs St James Jets, 4.15 pm. Games at Roopsingh Road Recreation Ground.
