Carnival Messiah ready to make mas

Carnival Messiah has been a model of consistency and although he has had 21 races under his belt last season he continues to hold his form both in his races and at gallops.

The 2001 triple crown winner showed he is in fine fettle, exposing  his sprinting qualities over 1000 metres in 59.58 seconds on the gallops course at Santa Rosa Park, Arima yesterday morning. The exciting spin by the Wilma Primus-owned colt was a warm up for Saturday’s Allowance highlight on the Arima Race Club Day three card. The son of Freshly Squeezed/Lady Of The Moment is booked to fly out to Barbados early next month, where he will compete in the Tanglewood Stakes at the Garrison Savannah on March 6. You’ve Got Mail and Second Chances, which represent the same stable also looked good in company over the same distance. The pair held together in 1:02.81 seconds. 

Sure Ting, Carefree and Entertainer, and Daredevil Hero were others from the champion trainer’s  barn to show their colours. Sure Ting drilled the last 600 metres of the course in 34.20 seconds, where Carefree and Entertainer has posted 36.20. Daredevil Hero was the earliest of the lot to make an appearance. The bay three-year-old recorded 48.06 seconds over 800 metres before daylight appeared. Tea Time Doc and Smart N’ Beautiful were others to attain ‘Good’ in the remarks column of the clockers report. The Maniram Maharaj owned and trained pair sailed smoothly over 1200 metres in 1:18.40 seconds.
