Regional coaches for FA course
Sixty-two regional coaches are carded to participate in the FA International Coaching Licence Course. This will be conducted by Senior FA instructors Roger Soper and Mike Hennigan at the Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence from March 19 to 26. The programme is the start of CONCACAF’s 2004 Develop-ment Programme and will cover “key theoretical and practical issues in coaching,” including planning and preparation of training sessions strategies and tactics.
Participants who are successful in the theoretical and practical exams will move on from the FA License, which is the equivalent to the UEFA “B” Licence, to the FA’s Advanced Coaching Licence Course, the equivalent of the UEFA “A” Coaching Award. Next on the 2004 Programme is the CONCACAF “C” Licence Coaching Course, designed for young and less experienced coaches. This programme will be co-ordinated by certified FIFA Instructor Alvin Corneal. The “Physical Preparation of National Teams” workshop, designed in direct response to regional coaches’ requests, will focus on physical fitness and conditioning.
