Branker in Lease Operators tennis final
Trinidad and Tobago “Local Female Player of the Year” Rene Branker has secured her spot in this weekend’s Girls Under-18 final of the Lease Operators Limited Junior Tennis Tournament. The semi-finals in all divisions were contested at the PSA Tennis Centre last Sunday. Branker outplayed National Open Doubles winner Carlista Mohammed 6-1, 6-2. Mohammed’s partner and “Most Outstanding Female Player 14 and Under” Shenelle Mohammed took care of Nicole Agostini beating her 6-2, 6-4.
The friendly rivalry between Jerome Ward and Richard Chung, both “ Outstanding Player in the 18 and Under” and “14 and Under” age divisions respectively, saw Ward going one up on his peer with a 6-2, 6-2 straight set victory. The only real battle was the Boys Under-12 semi-final match between Luke De Caires and Kyle Delzin which saw Delzin take the lead, winning the first set 6-4, but ended with De Caires coming on strong to take the second set 6-3 and grabbed the decider 6-4. Among the Under-10 boys Jabrille Kabli beat Timothy Trestrail 8-0 while Andrew Ferreira got a rest ahead of the final when Alix Catermore forfeited their appointment, the remaining results are as follows.
Girls Under-10: Annabelle Castagne beat Laura Teixeira 8-0; Olivia Mitchell beat Kaeleigh De Silva 8-0.
Girls Under-12: Nalini Maharaj beat Kernel Teesdale 8-5; Cheyenne Lutchman beat Lee Ann Lingo 8-3; Christina Bennett beat Emily Aboud walk over; Cheyenne Lutchman beat Kernel Teesdale 8-5.
Boys Under-16: Brad Wallace beat Matthew Adamira 8-0; Jarred Gouveia beat Krys Gray 8-0.
