Car rally, treasure hunt Sunday
ACTION in the Trinidad and Tobago Rally Club (TTRC) will continue full speed ahead on Sunday after their opening eight stage professional display at Claxton Bay on January 24, was described by organisers as “highly successful and well received” by the crowd of rally enthusiasts on hand. According to TTRC public relations officer Patrick Lall, the turnout was encouragingly high with the area residents paying particular attention to the proceedings from their vantage points along the course. Sunday’s Car Rally and Treasure Hunt, which will start at Gulf City’s car park at 11 am and ends at the San Fernando Yacht Club, encourages further public participation as all proceeds will go toward the Southern Committee of the President’s Award Scheme.
With road accidents and fatality statistics of 2003 in view, the TTRC’s focus this year is on encouraging the observation of road safety regulations which it will incorporate into Sunday’s event garnered toward first time ralliers. With the support of a number of corporate citizens and sponsors, who have all pledged to enter 2-3 cars, Lall promises a day of safe family fun to members of the public with able vehicles, and a team of friends, and family members a they compete for an outstanding prize package. Interested participants are asked to attend a briefing at the Naparima Girls High School, San Fernando today, for more information please call Lall at 776-9029. The rally season continues on March 7 sponsored by Petrotrin, Night Stages on April 3 and a navigation event sponsored by 103 FM on April 25.
