Trini student shot dead in Washington

A 14-year-old Trinidadian student was shot dead by members of a drug gang in Washington DC last Saturday. Jahkema Princess Hansen was shot in the head, torso and leg by drug thugs — a crime which baffles local police. Investigators believe that Jahkema was tortured and then killed after she had witnessed a murder involving the same drug gang. Jahkema’s mother Judyann Hansen, 40, a native of Trinidad, has lived in several places over the last 20 years — Virgin Islands, West Virginia, New York City, Boston, and Washington. Jahkema attended high school and loved basketball, math and music. She has not yet been buried.
