Owner hunts down car thief

A 44-year-old man who allegedly stole a car from Endeavour Road, Chaguanas, was held by the owner of the car and relatives at Palmyra  Village, San Fernando, around midday yesterday.

Reports revealed that Ramnarace Seepersad, of Endeavour, left his 180B car parked at Endeavour Road, Chaguanas, on Saturday night. He later discovered the car missing. A search was carried out for the vehicle throughout the country and at around 11 am, the car was seen at Palmyra Village. The man was challenged and the vehicle was intercepted. A motorist who witnessed the incident and thought that it was a kidnapping called E-999 and all police vehicles on patrols were alerted.

A party of officers responded to the report and intercepted the car at Freeport Junction. At the Chaguanas Police Station, officers discovered that the owner of the stolen car was among the four who had snatched the suspect. The man was questioned about the larceny of a van and he is expected to be charged with two counts of larceny. The man is also expected to be quizzed about a series of other stolen vehicles in Central Trinidad.
