Local company Software Technology Limited (Softech), is nudging competitors aside with it new creation, Trinispace.com, a Caribbean-oriented Web portal designed to capitalise on an already lucrative local Web market of over 300,000 web users. Managing Director of Software Technology, Gregory Fernandez, said that Trinispace.com has unique features that you will not find on any other Web site, such as its Trinispace coupons, Trinispace music, Trinispace tickets and Trinispace jobs.   Although Softech is a software development company with over twelve years experience, Trinispace.com was conceptualised about two months ago. It is a three-part coupon service that will give business access to focused advertising and allow them to connect quickly and directly with consumers. Through a delivery network, coupon booklets and individual coupons will be delivered directly to the areas targetted by producers of goods and services.

There are several coupons listed on the site; persons can print the coupons they need and carry them to the respective store and redeem the good or service. It’s coupon portal can be accessed by going to, www.trinispace.com. These come from a variety of merchants, and include such things as baby items, hardware supplies, interior decorating, clothing, footwear, photography and others. There is also a coupon calendar that is bordered by different mas bands for Carnival 2004. Additionally, full colour coupon booklets  (issued 12 times a year) can also be printed; these focus mainly on grocery items, fast food outlets and fine dining. The booklet is designed to provide consumers savings on commodities used every day.  Consumers will be required to register at any branch of TT Post to allow for processing and delivery. Their other service, Trinispace music, is a premiere music database that allows enthusiasts to sample and purchase Caribbean music.

For the first time, customers will be able to purchase Caribbean music and support Caribbean artistes online for a nominal fee.  What’s unique is that the music is sold in a downloadable format and persons can access songs from as far back as the 60s from many artistes. Tracks are available in several genres: Traditional calypso, soca, ragga soca, rapso, chutney, steelband, East Indian, parang and R&B.  When choosing a song, a person is allowed one minute of listening pleasure. All songs cost US$1.00 or TT$6.30 and can be ordered either by Credit Card or Money Order. About 77 percent of the sales value goes back to the artiste. In addition, singers can go to the studio and produce a song and place it on Trinispace music, where there is a worldwide distribution with unlimited volume. The cost of producing a million songs (for the producer) will be just the same as recording in the studio. “In terms of economics, it makes a lot of sense to acquire the services of Trinispace music,” Fernandez said. “Downloadable music is outselling CDs six to one, hence record shops may be on the way out. As a result, production and promotional costs will decrease. There is no need to produce and distribute CDs. This is the way of the future.”

If persons need to find tickets for local events, Trinispace tickets is the first online Box Office of Trinidad and Tobago. The ticket area can be accessed on the Web site and persons can purchase tickets for fetes, calypso tents, cricket and the theatre online, via credit card. Tickets will be then delivered automatically by TT Post Courier directly to your home, hotel or office.  If a person is looking for employment, Trinispace jobs (a Web-based recruiting tool) gives local employers and job seekers 24-hour access to each other. It is an employment service network on the Internet. Employers having a job vacancy can go to the site, log in and place the necessary details on the site. Browsing job-seekers can get information and apply for work by placing their resumes online. The Web site will not only be marketed in Trinidad and Tobago but also in Toronto, New York and London.
