TCL forklift driver murdered, dumped
THE blood-stained body of a Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL) employee was discovered on the side of a road at Battoo Avenue, Marabella, yesterday morning. Police believe 45-year-old Martin Williams, a forklift operator, was hijacked, stabbed to death and his body dumped on the road. Up to late yesterday, investigators had not yet recovered Williams blue- grey Nissan Sentra B-13 taxi which police believe was used as a getaway car by his killers. Police sources said Williams hired a person to ply the car for him, but the driver called in sick. They also believe that Williams, who lived in Enterprise, Chaguanas, finished work at around 10 pm on Thursday and decided to work the taxi before going home. Police believe Williams picked up his killer/s who then announced a hold-up. Williams was stabbed repeatedly and thrown out of his car by the killer/s who then sped off.
Around 6.20 am yesterday, a man jogging at Battoo Avenue spotted Williams’ body and contacted the police. Police sources said Williams’ body bore three stab wounds to the chest and two on the upper part of the back. William’s wallet, containing $150, was found in his possession. The only item missing, apart from his car, was his watch. Williams’ body was viewed by District Medical Officer Dr Peter Sagar, who ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park, St James, where an autopsy was performed yesterday. It revealed that Williams died from multiple stab wounds. Visiting the scene yesterday was a party of officers from the Marabella Police Station and San Fernando CID, led by Snr Supt Dawson Victor. Cpl Levia is investigating the murder and no arrests have been made.
