Carpenter killed crossing road

A 57-YEAR-OLD carpenter was struck down and killed while crossing a road near his Penal home on Tuesday afternoon.

Reports stated around 1.30 pm, Chanranday Seecharan was attempting to cross Penal Rock Road when he was struck by a Toyota Cressida car, driven by a 26-year-old Penal man. Seecharan, who was pitched several feet into the air on impact, was pronounced dead on arrival at San Fernando General Hospital.

An autopsy revealed death was due to multiple injuries consistent with a vehicular accident. Visiting the scene was a party of officers from the Penal CID, including Insp Joseph Honore, Sgt David Harnarinesingh and PCs Bachan, Thomas and Douglas. Investigations are continuing.
