Christian sinks Maloney Pacers

With action shifted to the Maloney Sports Complex for the first time on Saturday night the home team fancied their chances as they took the advantage at the half 39-36. They appeared well on course to maintaining their lead at the end of third session but were undone by Christian and Andy Best who brought Shak Attack back with a 56-54 lead.

Christian grabbed seven steals as well on the night. Best was equally impressive with 15 points while point guard Orlando Mapp added 10 points.

Pacers were led by centre Duane Virgil who had 21 points and eight rebounds with Andy DuFont adding 15.

Despite being strengthened by four new players from the league’s recent player-transfer, the Pacers dropped to sixth in the standings with eight points from six matches. Shak Attack are in third with 10 points. The table is being headed by Diego Martin All-Stars who with Defence Force are on 10 points from six games. The All-Stars hold a superior point differential.

Meanwhile, Valencia Heat handed the Millennium Basketball Academy their first defeat of the season 70-54 in the 18 and Under Boys Division. Heat point guard Ivan Williams and Canaan Donawa combined for 36 points to confirm the victory.

Williams led the scoring with 19 and Donawa 17, while Mikaneal Williams also contributed 11 in the Heat’s winning effort. For the Millennium Basketball Academy the consistent Khalid Arrindell scored 14 points and Jonathan Hamilton 11.

Also, Maloney Pacers defeated Blink Trailblazers 84-54 in the youth division. Forward Nathan Lewis produced a game-high 29 points while teammates Joel Theodore and Justin Medina got 17 and 15 points respectively as the Pacers dominated the encounter. The Trailblazers got 14 from Juvani Andrews and Jalani Mapp each.
