Freeport man to stand trial for friend’s murder
A FREEPORT man charged with murdering his friend was yesterday committed to stand trial at the next sitting of the Assizes. After hearing evidence from 17 State witnesses, Chief Magistrate Sherman McNicolls ruled that a prima facie case had been made out against 18-year-old Darryl Osbourne.
Osbourne was charged with the murder of Pradeep Chris Seecharan of Mc Bean Village, Couva. The bloody body of 33-year-old Seecharan was found at the side of the road at Perseverence Road in Moka, Maraval, on July 7, 2003. His silver-grey Hilux van, which was allegedly used to run him over, was found at King’s Wharf, San Fernando. Seecharan was the owner of Chris Distributors, a clothing store located at Adam’s Bazaar in Chaguanas. The charges were laid by Cpl Dennison Henry of the Maraval CID. Osbourne was represented by attorney Patrick Godson-Phillips while State attorney Shoba Jamunar prosecuted.
