Angry mom seeks US help on TT crime

A grieving Ann Caesar-Maldonado, mother of American citizen Camelia Caesar Nyack, who was gunned down on February 26 while visiting a friend in Arima, has sworn to get assistance from the US-based Department of Homeland Security to deal with the escalating crime situation in TT, when she returns to her home in Boston. The Department of Homeland Security is the coordinating body for all crime prevention and crime-fighting bodies in the USA. “Now that I am a US citizen, once I return to Boston I intend to tackle the Homeland Security Department to do something about crime in TT. It is too ridiculous. “Crime now is worse in TT than in the states. I could walk on any street in New York or Boston at anytime with my jewelry or money and feel safe.

“As I came to TT for my daughter’s funeral, the first thing I was told was not to take much money or go out with jewelry. “The Government seems unable to do anything about it and no one else seems to care. I cannot sit idly by and do nothing. “I feel sorry for the people of this country.” The infuriated mom was speaking with Newsday at the Santa Rosa Public Cemetery yesterday, following the funeral service for her daughter at the K Allens and Son Funeral Chapel in Arima. “What is the Government doing with all that money they get from the export of the pitch lake, the oil and natural gas reserves. Are they taking it only to line their pockets?” the angry woman asked. “Camelia was a wonderful girl who did not drink, smoke, do drugs or anything wrong, but look at how she died.
