Crime Unit makes first major bust

THE Special Anti Crime Unit formed last October headed by Brigadier Peter Joseph made its first major bust on Wednesday night with the seizure of military and paramilitary wear, guns, ammunition and an all-in-one mask. According to reports, the Crime Unit officers were on surveillance duty at around 11.30 pm along Laventille Road, Febeau Village in San Juan when they heard noise coming from an abandoned house nearby. On closer inspection the officers heard footsteps running away. A search of the area was made and a large piece of plastic, when unrolled, revealed the stock from an AK-47 rifle, 12 pistols and revolvers, 184 rounds of  ammunition, two magazines, two army type camouflage jackets, a police uniform, a police bullet-proof vest, gun holster and mask. Police could not say why the items were gathered in that house, but confirmed that investigations will continue. The cops also promised that this is just the start of their attack on crime.
