South businessman abducted
A 37-year-old San Fernando businessman was kidnapped from in front of his house as he was about to take his dog for a walk on Friday night. Up to late yesterday relatives of Premanand Dulan had not yet received a ransom demand. Dulan operates his family’s businessplaces — Dulan’s (a variety store) and Dulan’s Jewelry — at High Street, San Fernando. Yesterday relatives held a prayer service at his Freeling Street, San Fernando home, for his safe release. However, when Newsday visited the home, a relative said they did not want to make any comments on the incident.
According to police reports, around 8.30 pm, two men walked up to Dulan, who was standing in front of the gate with his Doberman puppy, when two men walked up to him and grabbed him. A blue car stopped abreast them and he was bundled into the vehicle. Newsday understands that for a period prior to the incident neighbours had reported to police that there was a strange car parked in the area, but the police never responded. Officers of the Anti Kidnapping Squad and San Fernando CID are continuing investigations.
