Petit Valley man shot in head
A HEATED gang-war is believed by police to have led to yesterday’s shooting of Gabriel Taylor, 21, who was struck in the head. According to reports, Taylor of Simeon Road, Petit Valley, was awakened at 9.30 am by the shouts of two men outside his home. When he opened his front door, Gabriel reportedly heard the men say, “we go kill you boy!”, before several shots were fired at him. Police said Taylor managed to evade the first volley of gunshots as he fled. But the gunmen followed and subsequently caught up with him. One of the gunmen placed a weapon to Taylor’s head and fired a shot.
Taylor, who was struck in the head, miraculously escaped death and managed to run off again, with the gunmen still firing wildly in his direction. Up to late yesterday evening, Gabriel remained warded in stable condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital after receiving treatment for his head wound and several bruises about the body. Four Roads detective Constables Joseph, Gibbons, Moses, Stewart and Bremnar visited the scene and began investigations. Police sources said they believe arrests are imminent.
