Return TTPost to New Zealand

THE EDITOR: On a daily basis, the public who read your prestigious daily papers are saying that TTPost should be returned to New Zealand properly garlanded at a special function in Trinidad. These New Zealanders who themselves come from a Third World country have the experience of having treated their aborigines as fourth-class citizens and are now treating us as fifth-class, knowing fully well that we deserve it. The delay in booting them out exposes our stupidity as belonging to a fifth-class community.

Could you believe that I, as well as six of my friends used to send parcels to Johannesburg in South Africa four years ago, which would cost us TT$5/Kgm by surface mail? Now the TTPost charges us over $75/Kgm parcel saying there is no surface mail, so it has to go by air, as if the boats that bring parcels from UK to Trinidad are not allowed to carry our bags. To put more dust in our already blind eyes, the TTPost, which made a profit of well over $5 million in 2003, now gives out as charity $50,000 worth of $1 letters for us Trinidadians, knowing fully well we cannot see through it.
