Vicky Boodram again in court today
Last week Monday and Wednesday, attorney Jason Jackson failed to convince Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate, Raejendra Rambachan, to grant her bail, based on a manual trace of Boodram’s past record via her name.
The police, however, insisted that a trace be done via her fingerprint, out of an abundance of caution.
Boodram is facing five new charges apart from the 19 offences slapped on her for fraud, arising out of the operation of Boodram Travel Tours and Ship Ahoy cruises.
She was arrested during the Independence weekend on the new charges, by police officers of the Financial Intelligence Unit.
Boodram, 39, of Gambal Street, Siparia, was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 on Friday last by Magistrate Rae Roopchan, in the Siparia Magistrates’ Court, in respect of three charges of fraud. She is facing two charges of money laundering before Rambachan in which she is alleged to have purchased a Mercedes Benz, house and land at Palmiste, near San Fernando, all valued $2 million.
If the trace has been done, then today Rambachan would consider what quantum of bail he would grant Boodram.
The woman is already on $6 million bail in respect of the 19 charges which are pending in the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court.
