Cops probe Toco murder

THE BODY of a Princes Town man was found behind a beach house at Sidemoon Bay, Mission Road, Toco, around 6.30 am yesterday. According to a police report, the gruesome discovery was made by an accountant attached to the University of the West Indies who found the body of 25-year-old Derek Wade Ramsawak partially submerged in water. When the body was pulled to shore by fishermen, it was discovered that the hands were bound together with duct tape.

District Medical Officer Dr Faye Reyes, along with Ag Inspector Thomas, Sgt Wright, Sgt Abraham, Cpl Glasgow and PC Cummings, visited the scene and several persons were interviewed. Residents of the area told Newsday Ramsawak arrived in the district one week ago and villagers who befriended him gave him food and clothing. They said they were baffled as to why he was killed. Ramsawak was last seen alive on Tuesday. A post mortem will be done on the body today. Police are calling on relatives of the dead man to contact the Sangre Grande CID. Cpl Glasgow of the Toco Police Station is continuing investigations.
