Congrats to Ms Sealy, Music Festival participants

THE EDITOR:Over the past two weeks, I have had the distinct pleasure of being a volunteer for this year’s Music Festival.  This experience has reinforced my faith in our young people who have exhibited such wonderful talent during the festival.  All the participants performed with excellence and the eventual winners thoroughly deserved the accolades that were bestowed upon them. To me, however, the crowning glory of the entire festival was the performance of the National Sinfonia Orchestra of Trinidad and Tobago under the direction of Mr. Jessel Murray.

This orchestra, formed only a few months ago, exemplified all that was good about Trinidad and Tobago, reflecting its diversity and representing all age groups.  Needless to say, the standard of the music was very high and it was obvious that the audience appreciated it just as much as I did. Hats off to the organisers of the festival, and specifically to Ms Joslynne Sealy and her crew who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the festival, and a well deserved ‘Bravo’ to all the participants.  The newspapers, in my view, gave good coverage to the festival. I would, however, make the plea that these and other events featuring the good works of our youth be given prominence over some of the more disturbing news that come our way. While these touchy-feely things may not be considered hot news items, they certainly contribute to our reality. Thanks again, Music Festival.
