Red Fete inquiry adjourned again
THE four witnesses scheduled to give evidence yesterday at the “Outrageous in Red” fete murder inquiry were, for the third time, unable to testify and ordered to return on another day. The four were told by Chief Magistrate Sherman McNicolls to return on April 15 because defence attorney Pamela Elder was not feeling well enough to sit through the hearing.
When the matter was called at 1.30 pm yesterday, Elder indicated to the magistrate that she had just left the High Court and was not in the best of health. The hearing was adjourned when it was called on the last two occasions, March 25 and April 1, because McNicolls and Elder were absent respectively. The accused, PC Dave Burnett, is being represented by Elder and attorney Mario Merritt. State attorney Tricia Hudlin is prosecuting. Burnett was charged with the January 25 murder of 18-year-old Kevin Cato at the Pier 1 fete.
